ALL dogs participating in our obedience classes must show documentation from their veterinarian that they have received the both rounds of the H3N2/H3N8 (Canine Influenza) or are up to date on their annual yearly booster.

The Central Oklahoma Golden Retriever Club has provided training classes for dog owners for over 30 years in the Oklahoma City Metro Area.  These highly effective training classes are now located at the COGRC Training Center in Edmond Oklahoma.

COGRC instructors collectively have over 100 years of experience and expertise with a variety of dog breeds.  All instructors are experienced pet owners and are currently participating in dog activities including,  AKC Obedience, Rally, Therapy, Conformation, Hunt Tests, and daily life with our dogs.

Our training uses positive reinforcement and balanced dog training techniques and instructors participate in continuing education to keep up with best practices, which gives our students information and techniques to effectively train their dogs and improve the canine-human relationship.

 
Class Descriptions and Cost:

Submit online enrollment.  
 
PAYMENT  AND VACCINE RECORDS MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO DAY OF CLASS 
 
COGRC reserves the right to adjust the class schedule based on the number of participants, weather events, and club priorities with notice.  
 
Maximum 8 students per class
At least 4 to form a class
Beginner Classes - if there are fewer than 4 we may combine the classes and drop one of the time slots.
 

EFFECTIVE WITH THE APRIL 11th SESSION, THE OBEDIENCE COMMITTEE DECIDED WE WILL SUSPEND THE COVID VACCINE AND MASK REQUIREMENTS. 

HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO KEEP OUR INSTRUCTORS, STUDENTS & GUESTS SAFE, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REINSTATE THE REQUIREMENTS IF THE SITUATION WARRANTS.  

 We allow 1 guest per dog/handler team to watch class.

 

S.T.A.R. Puppy:  $135 

Begin building a solid foundation of your dog's training with the S.T.A.R. Puppy class! In this class you'll learn the basics of puppy handling and ownership along with foundational obedience components. Puppies in this class are 12 months old or younger. 

 

Beginning Obedience:  $135 

Learn how to train your dog!  This class covers learning theory, how to avoid potentially dangerous situations when at home and in the community with your dog.  You will learn why your dog does certain behaviors, basic manners and how to develop a responsible and rewarding relationship with your dog.  
 

CGC/Intermediate Obedience:   $135  
Teach your dog to reliably perform behaviors in difficult situations.  This class focuses on helping the handler (dog owner) and the dog work together.  Learn how to teach your dog to behave in public, greet other dogs, perform basic commands with distractions and potential activities you can do with your dog.  Students have the option of testing for the Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Certificate upon completion of the class. CGC Certification is required for most Therapy Dog programs.  

Advanced Obedience/Trick Dog:  $135 

This class is for dogs and handlers who have their CGC or equivalent skills and want to continue their training. We will work on heeling, stays with distractions, recall, and many more skills while upping the level of distance, distraction, and duration. To incorporate some fun, we may also learn a few new tricks!

Therapy Dog Prep: Cost: $150

This class is for dogs and handlers who have their CGC or equivalent skills and want to continue their training towards a therapy dog certification. This class will prepare you for the test through one of the certifying organizations. This class includes field trips to practice real world exposure and mimic therapy dog settings you and your dog will navigate. 

 

Rally: Cost: $135
Teach your dog how to navigate through a course made of 10-20 signs. Each sign has a different skill for the handler/dog to perform.
