Training Classes

The Central Oklahoma Golden Retriever Club has provided training classes for dog owners for over 30 years in the Oklahoma City metro area. These highly-effective training classes are given at the COGRC Training Center in Edmond, OK.

Collectively, COGRC instructors have over 100 years of experience and expertise with a variety of dog breeds. All instructors are experienced pet owners and are currently participating in dog activities including AKC obedience, rally, therapy, conformation, hunt tests, and daily life with our dogs.

Our training uses positive reinforcement and balanced dog training techniques. Our instructors participate in continuing education to keep up with best practices, which gives our students information and techniques to effectively train their dogs and improve the canine-human relationship.

All dogs participating in our obedience classes must show documentation from their veterinarian that they have received the both rounds of the H3N2/H3N8 (Canine Influenza) or are up to date on their annual yearly booster.

Requirements & things you need to know

Before attending events or training in our building, we require your dog to be vaccinated for the following: Bordetella, DHLP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza), Flu (H3N2 & H3N8), Parvovirus, and Rabies.

  • Payment and vaccine records must be received prior to the first class.
  • COGRC reserves the right to adjust the class schedule based on the number of participants, weather events, and club priorities with notice.
  • A maximum of 8 students are allowed per class. At least 4 students are needed to form a class.
  • For beginner classes, if there are fewer than 4 students we may combine classes and drop one time slot.
  • One guest per dog/handler team is invited to watch class.
